Abstract
This technical paper focuses on the statistical analysis of the generated power of a photovoltaic power plant at a second resolution. Second-resolution data allow a detailed study of the dynamics of power generation in a scientific way that conventional commercial data do not allow. Univariate descriptive statistics is used for the statistical analysis, which examines the progression of the generated power as a statistical process and whose purpose is to produce an overview of the measured data. The dynamics of production is studied and presented by several statistical methods such as histograms of differences of different orders, quantification of the rate of increase or decrease of output with respect to cloud crossing, autocorrelations and others. The analysis of the second resolution has analytical value for understanding the behavior of PV plants in microgrids and their impact on the frequency variation as a global parameter determining the power quality and the stability of the microgrid as a closed dynamic system. The analyses demonstrate that a microgrid with PV as the dominant source would be significantly challenging to maintain both global and local power quality parameters.
