Abstract
The paper deals with one of the protection methods against the electro-static charge by conductive coating. We focus on methyl-silicone resin with the addition of conductive polymer. Individual electrical parameters are studied on these coatings because these parameters determine the ability of charge leakage. The purpose of the study was to find out if the coating changes its electrical parameters after some time and if the anti-static protection purpose of the coating is deteriorated. For the study, we have chosen coatings based on unary component paint which are dissolved in xylene. Xylene is a methyl-silicone resin in which white titanium pigment is added. We have chosen 7 coating samples that were spread on both conductive and insulation material. Initial measurements were made on all samples in order to determine electrical properties of these materials before ageing. A part of the samples underwent the ageing process in dry and warm environment and the rest of the samples were placed and aged in a cold and wet environment. After a determined time, we have made electrical property measurements on the coating samples again. We used dielectric spectroscopy method for the measurements. The set of measurements was made by Keithley 6517B device and we measured the charge and discharge current. After ageing another set of measurements was made and the results were compared. As the result, we can tell that by ageing process the electrical parameters of anti-static coatings considerably change, thus the anti-static protection capability of the coating is reduced. We can conclude that the anti-static coating in these case has to be checked and renewed in regular intervals.
