Abstract
The continuously increasing expectations of less outages, the growing number of household-sized powerplants and the available technological and regulatory options require a rethink of the low-voltage distribution network (LV) strategy. The aim of this article is to summarize the answers to the challanges ahead and the concept of LV operation management system is also presented as an integral part of it.

In this article, that new concept will be presented by a system theory approach based on the current and medium term development plans of a Hungarian power company, MVM Émász Áramhálózati Kft.

Keywords: smart low-voltage network, smart modem, SCADA
