Abstract
Research in the field of microgrids is making significant progress and several microgrids have now been set up around the world and their construction is increasing every year. When designing energy sources for the microgrid, it is necessary to know in as much detail as possible the dynamic changes in the load and to know the local weather effects of such an environment. However, considerable attention must be paid to the design to the selection of a suitable combination of energy sources for the microgrid under construction, as such a concept is not always considered. It is therefore necessary to draw attention to this issue when designing microgrids in the future. The article deals with the design of promising localities for the creation of microgrids and evaluates the conditions and currently deployed renewable energy sources in Slovakia. Furthermore, the article deals with the design of a universal mix of promising resources that come into play for the territory of Slovakia. The construction of this new microgrid system will be the most promising and easiest for these sites in the future. The article is also intended to point out that there is still a need for research and development in the field of energy resources, as consumer demand for electricity is still growing and the performance of any equipment available to such a system will be crucial for the construction of a microgrid.
